The fact that I am hesitant to begin typing this paragraph is proof. We’ve reached a seminal technological capability and it is falling into the wrong hands. It’s 2020 and A.I is here and I am about to spend 8 cents to use it for my own nefarious purposes. This is an historic moment for humanity and an inflection point. I am about to let a modern neural network to complete the next 500 characters of this text. That’s going to mean, soon, you won’t know the real Tim Gardner over an A.I one. Is this the singularity? That sounds sci-fi to me. There are studies that say these systems don’t always succeed, but that’s the point. They succeed because of failure. And you get a lot of failure for free.

This is where Facebook came in and put the fear of technology in us. They published in the likes a paper in January called, “Like is Money.” They ran a bunch of research where they showed, after the Facebook consumer trials, people were spending around 5% more time on Facebook but they were losing a lot of money.
