A U.S. Army veteran who claims to have been tortured at the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, has filed a lawsuit against the agency and a former officer claiming that guards at the facility “brutally” assaulted him in 2002. Majid Khan and his wife, Bashirah, a legal assistant, claim they were held in solitary confinement for 39 days at Guantanamo Bay before being relocated to Qatar. While there, the couple alleged that guards pinned Khan’s legs to the floor and assaulted him with a rifle butt and, as he tried to get away, placed the barrel of a pistol in his mouth, according to a lawsuit obtained by The Daily Beast. According to The Daily Beast, Majid Khan has been charged with terrorism-related crimes in the past, but has never been convicted of a crime.
